About the School We have world-class research programmes in analytical, environmental, materials, bioinorganic, organic, physical and theoretical chemistry, with many highly successful interdisciplinary collaborations.

Undergraduate study Study Chemistry and Applied Chemistry towards a BSc; do two degrees in 5 years (a BSc in Chemistry and a BScEng (Chem Eng)); or choose a BSc in Materials Science.

Postgraduate study We offer an Honours degree as well as Research degrees in various fields, including Green Chemistry, Inorganic, Materials Science, Medicinal, Organometallic, and Physical Chemistry.
Research Research activities within the School of Chemistry are consolidated within the Molecular Sciences Institute (MSI). There are 27 academic staff members, 17 of whom have NRF ratings.
