Drawing on in-depth ethnographic research among the Olderkesi Maasai community in southern Kenya, this talk examines how land privatisation and conservation initiatives reshape livelihoods, identities, and futures. As communal lands transition into individually owned parcels alongside the development of a wildlife conservancy, new socio-economic and ecological dynamics emerge within a rapidly expanding global eco-capitalist landscape.
This research seminar offers critical insights into how Indigenous communities navigate environmental change, capital expansion, and justice in biodiversity-rich regions under increasing global pressure.
