Epic parade and student-inspired music festival painted Braamfontein blue and gold as Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ enters its second century.
On Friday, 6 October 2023, thousands of Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ students and staff celebrated the University’s 101st birthday with a colourful parade that snaked through the vibrant streets of Braamfontein.
Dressed in Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ signature blue and gold colours, the Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ Parade also included Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ residences and societies, Departments, Faculties and Schools, Kudos Kudu mascot, stilt walkers, the Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ Brass Band, float and the Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ cheerleaders.
The parade was followed by a picnic and an energetic Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ Music Festival which was held at the Diggs field. The line-up included talented Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ students and included some of South Africa’s biggest stars in entertainment such as Mafikizolo, Mi Casa, and Amapiano DJ’s Dlala Thukzin and DBN Gogo.
