Great return for Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ Sport at 2021 USSA’s Tournaments
-
6 Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ teams participated in USSA events and returned with 4 medals. Two gold and two bronze.
Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ Basketball once again dominated a USSA tournament with the men winning gold and the women bronze. The men played neighbours UJ for the gold medal. After taking the lead in the third quarter, the Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ies made sure to hang on until the last whistle. Final Score: WITS 54-48 UJ.
Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ Hockey also walked away with two medals. The Men’s 1st team beat Maties 4-0 to win the bronze medal. The Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ies were without a shadow off a doubt one of the best team in the competition and extremely unlucky to not play in the final. In a feel-good story the Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ Men’s 2nd team played in the USSA B-Section and walked away with the gold medal after dominating all opposition in the week. The Women’s 1st team finished in 5th position which was also an improvement from the previous tournament in 2019.
Another highlight was the Ñî¹óåú´«Ã½ Netball team that finished 7th in the annual USSA tournament, their highest finish in many-many years. More importantly however they qualified for Varsity Netball for the very first time. Considering they finished 19th at the 2018 event this is an amazing turn around story.
