Biostatistical Consultations

The Faculty of Health Sciences Postgraduate and Academic Support (PGAS) office provides biostatistical support to:

  • Undergraduate students
  • Postgraduate students
  • Postdoctoral research fellows
  • Staff/researchers

Our services are designed to provide support with:

  • Protocol development

Guidance on sample size calculations, randomisation/sampling strategies, and crafting a robust Statistical Analysis Plan (SAP), etc.

  • Protocol review

Assistance in addressing feedback from protocol assessors and refining statistical sections.

  • Data collection & management

Advice on designing effective data collection tools and implementing sound data management practices.

  • Data analysis & interpretation

Support ranging from basic descriptive statistics to advanced analytical techniques.

  • Research outputs

Help with preparing statistical content for research reports, theses, dissertations, and manuscripts.

  • Examiner feedback

Statistical guidance on responding to examiner feedback.

  • Examiner assistance

Advice for examiners evaluating statistical analyses and interpreting results.

  • Grant applications

Statistical support for preparing research grant proposals.

Biostatistical consultations take place online and at the following locations:

  • Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital

The mode of interaction for consultations is face-to face or online (via MS Teams/Zoom/Whatsapp)
