The SAMERDI Successful Applications of Technologies Centred Around People (SATCAP) Research Centre aims to contribute to a productive industry through sustainable relationships and shared value for people in a modernising minerals sector.

This programme focuses on jobs, skills and people-centric modernisation, including environmental, social and governance issues.

Our Goals
  1. Build capacity in research and development to address the challenges of the mining sector, with a focus on HDSA students
  2. Conduct foundational research that addresses the challenges of the modernising mining sector and the legacies of mining
  3. Build and maintain relationships with internal, local and international partners
  4. Thought leadership which contributes research insights and perspectives to raise awareness and to provide input to policy debates
