Fee Structure for International Students Your fees depend on your citizenship, immigration status, and what you're studying. Click here to find the fee breakdown for your fee category.
Who pays what? Many students are unsure which fee category applies to them because of personal circumstances. Here are the most common questions we receive. Important: Your immigration status at the time of registration determines your fees for the entire academic year.
How and when to pay Before you can register each year, you'll need to pay 75% of your annual tuition fees, the international registration fee (if applicable), and accommodation fees if you're staying in a university residence. The remaining 25% is due by 30 June.
Fees Clearance Before you can obtain your international clearance and complete registration, you must first obtain fees clearance. Here's how to do it.
Beyond tuition: Your complete budget Tuition fees are just one part of your financial planning. Living in Johannesburg means budgeting for accommodation, food, transport, medical aid (required by law for international students), books and supplies, and personal expenses.
Financial aid and scholarships Undergraduate international students are not eligible for university bursaries or financial aid. If you're pursuing an Honours, Master's, or PhD, you may be eligible for postgraduate merit awards based on academic excellence. Visit our Financial and Scholarships website for more information.
